1. What is the COMOVIT-C Mathematics Competition?
The COMOVIT-C Mathematics Competition is an annual academic contest sponsored by De-Shalom Pharmacy to promote excellence in mathematics among secondary school students. The first edition is open to Senior Secondary School students (SS2) in Ijesaland and its environs.
2. What does COMOVIT-C stand for?
COMOVIT-C is a product of De-Shalom Pharmacy. The competition is named after it to encourage learning, growth, and vitality in education.
3. How can I participate in the COMOVIT-C Mathematics Competition?
Participation is strictly through schools. Each school can register up to five (5) students through the official website. Individual registrations are not allowed.
4. When and where will the competition take place?
The competition will take place in Ilesa, Osun State, with details of the venue and schedule communicated when registration opens.
5. Is the competition open to all schools?
For the maiden edition, the competition is open only to secondary schools in Ijesaland and its environs.
6. What is the age eligibility?
The competition is open to Senior Secondary School (SSS2) students, typically between 12-18 years of age.
7. What subjects are covered in the competition?
The competition focuses exclusively on Mathematics.
8. Is there a registration fee?
Yes. Each student pays a registration fee of ₦3,000, payable online through the official portal. Please note that additional bank or payment gateway charges may apply depending on the chosen payment method. These charges are set by the payment service provider (e.g., Paystack/Flutterwave), not the competition organizers.
9. Can home-schoolers or private candidates participate?
Not at this time. Participation is strictly through registered secondary schools.
10. Are there study materials or resources provided?
No special materials will be provided. However, the competition questions will be based on the Nigerian Senior Secondary School Mathematics curriculum.
11. How are participants selected?
Each school is responsible for selecting and registering up to five (5) students to represent them in the competition.
12. Is there a limit to the number of students a school can send?
Yes. Each school is limited to five (5) students only.
13. What are the prizes for the winners?
Attractive cash prizes and awards will be given to the top-performing students and their mathematics teachers. Details of the prizes are contained in fliers and posters.
14. How can I prepare for the competition?
Students should study their school mathematics curriculum and practice past exam-style questions. Schools are encouraged to organize extra tutorials or mock tests.
15. Will calculators be allowed?
No. The use of calculators or electronic devices is strictly prohibited during the competition.
16. Is accommodation provided for participants?
No. Since this first edition is restricted to schools within Ijesaland and its environs, accommodation will not be provided.
17. Can parents or teachers accompany participants?
Yes. Schools are expected to send their mathematics teacher(s) or designated representatives with their students. Parents may attend the award ceremony.
18. Can schools from outside Nigeria participate?
No. The competition is currently open to schools in Ijesaland and its environs only.
19. What is the format of the competition?
The competition will consist of two stages; a preliminary and a final round, featuring both multiple-choice and written questions. Only students who qualify from Stage One will advance to the final stage, which will culminate in an award ceremony celebrating the winners.
